Cytotoxicity of the three gutta-percha solvents, chloroform, eucalyptol, and GP-solvent

Abstract
The cytotoxicity of three gutta-percha solvents, chloroform, eucalyptol, and GP-solvent were evaluated. Extract of each solvent with four different concentrations, 0.1%, 0.01%, 0.001%, and 0.001% was applied to the cultured mouse L929
fibroblasts.
All
groups were incubated for 24, 48, and 72 hours. MTT(Methy1 Thiazole Tetrazolium Bromide) colorimetric technique was used to measure the mitochondrial dehydrogenase activity.
@ES Results were as follows:
@EN 1. Chloroform showed strong cytotoxicy at 24 hours regardless of the concentrations(p=0.00). Cell recover became elevated after 48 hours.
2. Eucalyptol showed the statistical difference among the concentrations at 24 hours, but there were no differences between the concentrations and the control at 48 and 72 hours.
3. GP-solvent showed strong cytotoxicity at 24 hours followed by cell recovery after 48 hours. But the cytotoxicity became elevated at 72 hours
